CREATED FOR THE COMMUNITY

The Central City Business Association was established by the Christchurch City Council to support CBD businesses and attract visitors and locals to the city centre. When CCBA began, the membership area was just four blocks (Durham to Manchester, between Hereford and Lichfield). One of our first initiatives was to widen our boundaries to represent more of the city!

Today, the CCBA represents Montreal to Madras Street, between Kilmore and St Asaph.

CCBA INITIATIVES

• Creating a pre-quake City Ambassador programme to improve safety in the city.
• Introducing classical music to the public realm to reduce antisocial behaviour.
• The ‘Boxing Day Replay’ event, helping business owners recoup revenue lost to aftershocks on Boxing Day.
• Instrumental in bringing the Re:START Mall to life
• Collaboration with CreativeNZ to develop and manage Artbeat
• Multiple cultural and arts events
