Christmas is now upon us and I hope you are all getting really busy with the Christmas season trade. The association has been submitting and advocating on a range of issues for the central city over the last couple of months. You will read more about these and other work we have been doing to promote our city this Christmas below.
We have also been out recruiting new members to the association so a BIG welcome to all our new members. Thank you for joining and we believe this highlights there is a willingness out there from the businesses wanting to work together and make this a better place to work and do business.
We held our AGM and elections on the 16th October at the Westpac Function rooms on The Terrace. It was very well attended and we had nine candidates standing for seven elected positions for our executive committee.
We would like to thank outgoing executive committee member Louise Sutherland for her work and commitment to the CCBA board over this last year. These roles are voluntary and Louise donated her time and energy to help make the city a better and more represented place to do business.

We had great speakers and some of our attending members asked that we share the video of the Christchurch Narrative presented by Boyd Warren of ChristchurchNZ
This is a link to that video HERE

Major Progress in the City
Since our last newsletter we have seen the opening of Hoyts EntX, Turanga the new Central Library and the Promenade, which all have provided a positive impact to our new city's vibrancy.
I have spoken to a number of businesses who have said the opening of these facilities has increased traffic into the city and sales opportunities.
The latest opening is the Guthrey Centre and Lanes. The first tenant in Guthrey Centre was Sweet Soul PatissErie followed closely by Champions of the World.
In the new year we will see the competition of our Town Hall and this is expected to open sometime in February 2019. We are also looking forward to the completion and opening of the Riverside Market around July.
CCBA Member Satisfaction Survey
Before the year ends, we are seeking your feedback on how we are performing as your business association. So we've put together our first member satisfaction survey which we will send to you before the end of this week.
We have developed the survey with the assistance of the Business Lab. Your responses will be treated in strict confidence and it will be the Business Lab who summarises the results and provide them back to us.
Completing the survey will put you in a draw to win two LUX tickets to our new Hoyts EntX Cinema... so keep an eye out for this one.
It has been a busy couple of months with writing submissions to the Christchurch City Council's Dangerous and Insanitary Buildings Policy Review, the Earthquake Prone Buildings Consultation and the North Halswell Commercial Zone Expansion.
It is important that we submit on issues that affect the Central City growth and vitality so take a moment to read what we are asking the council to do.
The CCBA has taken on two interns to help with our social media channels and marketing. The interns donate their time to gain experience out in the real business world.
Below, is a profile of each intern so you know who they are and to thank them for coming in to help us out.
